Neck pickup.

Neck/middle combination.  You can hear the GasFace later in this clip.  A vintage-voiced fuzz works well with lower-output vintage-voiced pickups like these Kleins, both for bad-ass heavy sounds like this and for classic subtle fuzz controlled with touch and the guitar's volume knob.

Middle pickup.

Middle/bridge combination.

Bridge pickup.

All of these clips were recorded with an M-Audio MicroTrack 24/96, the original version, directly to WAV files.  The microphone is a Sony ECM-DS70P stereo electret condenser that plugs into the recorder's 1/8" jack.  We did no post-production processing or editing.  We pressed "Record", we pressed "Stop", we uploaded the files.

The guitar is a Fender Road Worn '50s Strat with the Klein Pickups '63 Stratocaster pickup set and a Callaham steel inertia block for the vibrato bridge.  The amp is a Mesa Boogie Mark I reissue head and cabinet.  We used Solid Cables.  There was a GasPedals GasFace fuzz in the chain but mostly bypassed.  Amp settings were: both preamp volumes about three-and-a-half, master volume about two, in "tweed" mode.  This was slightly above conversational level in the room, which is an untreated bedroom in a house.  The MicroTrack was placed on the carpeted floor, 12-18" in front of the amp.  These were just basic, quick & dirty clips to show the character of the Klein pickups in the Road Worn strat.
